WHO WE ARE:

Business Leaders for Michigan is an organization dedicated to making Michigan a "Top Ten" state for job and economic growth. Serving as the state's business roundtable, Business Leaders for Michigan is composed of the chairpersons, chief executives or most senior executives of the state’s largest job providers and universities, that provide over 300,000 jobs in Michigan, generate over $1 Trillion in annual revenue, and serve over 100,000 students.

Business Leaders for Michigan will advance work in two areas to achieve the goals outlined in the Michigan Turnaround Plan. 

• Advocacy:  
  • Business Leaders for Michigan will work to build strong support among a broad group of stakeholders to advance the Michigan Turnaround Plan.  We will work in a non-partisan, non-ideological style focused on results. 
  • Business Leaders for Michigan will advance a legislative agenda to implement the Michigan Turnaround Plan.  Working in partnership with State leaders, the agenda will address the breadth and depth of actions recommended in the Plan to reform the state’s fiscal, budget, tax and investment policies.  This work will be guided by objective benchmarking Business Leaders for Michigan will conduct every year of peer regions around the globe.
  • Business Leaders for Michigan will evaluate candidates for state office and support those that are most aligned with the goals and principles of the Michigan Turnaround Plan.

• Jobs Agenda:
  • Business Leaders for Michigan will focus on strategic initiatives to stimulate new business creation and job growth by developing a distinctive university-business partnership and growing the pool of venture capital.
