Partners and Affiliates
Business Leaders for Michigan partners with organizations to advance our work. We also have established a number of affiliate organizations to implement specific initiatives where no existing organization had the capacity to perform the work. Affiliate organizations continue to have a close financial and/or operational relationship with Business Leaders for Michigan.
Center for Automotive Research (CAR)
The Center for Automotive Research is involved in the research of significant issues that relate to the future direction of the global automotive industry. Business Leaders for Michigan partners with CAR to support initiatives which will help Michigan become the Global Center for Mobility.
Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD)
Founded in 1895, ESD is a multi-disciplinary society uniting engineering, scientific and allied professions to enhance professional development and foster excitement about math and science in the next generation of leaders. Business Leaders for Michigan supports ESD and their efforts to grow Michigan's engineering talent base.
MichBio is the state’s biosciences industry association, and advocates on behalf of Michigan’s more than 600 bioscience companies. Business Leaders for Michigan partners with MichBio on initiatives which will grow Michigan's Life Sciences Economy.
Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC)
Founded in 1999, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation is a public-private partnership serving as the state's marketing arm and lead agency for business, talent and jobs, tourism, film and digital incentives, arts and cultural grants, and overall economic growth. Business Leaders for Michigan supports the efforts of the MEDC to attract and accelerate business growth in our state.
Michigan Farm Bureau
Michigan Farm Bureau is the state's largest general farm organization, whose purpose is to represent, protect, and enhance the business, economic, social and educational interests of its members. Business Leaders for Michigan supports Michigan Farm Bureau and its efforts to leverage the state's numerous natural resources assets to boost Michigan's economy.
Michigan United Conservation Clubs
Michigan United Conservation Clubs is the nation’s largest state-specific conservation organization. MUCC’s mission is to protect members' rights to hunt, fish and trap and to ensure that sound science-based conservation principles are in place. Business Leaders for Michigan supports MUCC and its efforts to expand Michigan's Natural Resources Economy.
Presidents Council, State Universities of Michigan (PCSUM)
Based in Lansing, PCSUM is a nonprofit higher education association serving Michigan's 15 state universities. Business Leaders for Michigan partners with PCSUM to help grow our state's Higher Education Marketplace.
Formerly known as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, SME is a nonprofit organization that has served companies, educators, governments and communities across the manufacturing spectrum for more than 80 years. Through events, media, membership, training, development, and the SME Education Foundation, SME shares knowledge to advance manufacturing. Business Leaders for Michigan supports SME and its efforts to make Michigan a Global Engineering Village.
University Research Corridor (URC)
An alliance of the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University - all Business Leaders for Michigan members - the URC promotes, leverages and encourages collaboration among the universities and the state in order to accelerate statewide economic development. Business Leaders for Michigan has a strategic partnership with the URC called Accelerate Michigan.
VantagePort, formerly Detroit Region Aerotropolis, is an exciting initiative embraced by Wayne and Washtenaw Counties, the local surrounding communities, Wayne County Airport Authority and leading business executives in Michigan to transform the Detroit Metro and Willow Run airports into a world-class business center. Business Leaders for Michigan is a founding sponsor of this initiative.

A website that showcases the breadth and depth of the region's creative assets. The initiative was part of Detroit Renaissance's "Road to Renaissance" initiative to grow metro Detroit's creative economy.
Renaissance Venture Capital Fund
The Renaissance Venture Capital Fund is a $100 million fund of funds that supports the growth of venture capital in Michigan while serving as a bridge between Michigan's emerging innovation company community and its strong industrial and commercial base. Business Leaders for Michigan is the General Partner of the Fund.
Detroit Creative Corridor Center
This site is designed to support the growth of Detroit’s creative economy through business acceleration services, community outreach and events, and talent development resources tailored specifically to creative professionals’ needs. The initiative was part of Detroit Renaissance's "Road to Renaissance" initiative to grow metro Detroit's creative economy.
Invest Detroit manages over $150M in funds and tax credits for growing commercial and industrial businesses, residential real estate development projects and special projects which address strategic needs of the city of Detroit. Detroit Renaissance was the original founder of the Fund.
